WHAT IS

HYPEREMESIS GRAVIDARUM?

<HYPER-EM-EH-SIS GRAV-EH-DARE-UM>

Affecting about 1% of pregnancies, HG is debilitating, persistent nausea and/or vomiting during pregnancy, causing severe side effects and often hospitalization. HG can interfere with the mom’s ability to work and care for herself or others. HG is associated with higher rates of isolation, depression and pregnancy terminations due to a lack of understanding, support, or resources.

These mamas and their babies are in need of our acknowledgement, love, and attention.

"The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit."

Psalm 34:18

What Drives Us

Our Mission

To provide relationship, community, and individualized case management for women who are battling or have battled hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), a debilitating form of nausea and/or vomiting in pregnancy.

What we do

How We Can Help

Create a Community

With our supportive social media accounts and exclusive Facebook groups, we aim to surround our HG mamas and their caregivers with people who have walked in their shoes and can offer love, care, and support.

A Listening Ear

HG is not well-known, but we understand. Sometimes HG mamas just need someone to listen to them and validate their suffering. We offer personal support for moms currently struggling with HG.

Connect Mamas with Resources

We are able to connect HG mamas with the personalized resources they need to help them while they endure HG.

Assist Family & Friends

Sometimes the hardest part about HG is people not being aware of this condition. We will help educate caretakers and support them in their role as caregiver.

Educate Local Organizations

We offer education and training to organizations such as pregnancy centers, healthcare offices, and churches so that they are better equipped to help women suffering from HG.

Meet the Team

Michelle Lawlor

President + Founder

I have had HG with all of my pregnancies. During my pregnancy with my son, I was feeling hopeless and frustrated with how sick I felt. After a meeting with my counselor, the idea of starting a ministry came to mind to help other women struggling. This ministry gives purpose to my suffering and allows me to pass on the knowledge and support I have been given during my times with HG.

Katie Sullivan

Vice President

I have had HG with both my son and daughter’s pregnancies. I am also Michelle’s youngest sister. I am passionate about supporting women who are currently experiencing HG because I know how debilitating it can be. While I always start out my pregnancies optimistic, I know how gut-wrenching it can be when the symptoms hit and you feel frustrated and stressed, especially when you have older children to care for.

Get Involved

We’re always seeking people to join our team who understand HG and want to support those currently going through it. Join us as we love on mamas with HG.
